4th generation level, interface and density displacer transmitter.
E4 Modulevel® level transmitters in measuring use Linear Variable Differential Transformer sensor. Use of LVDT has many advantages over classic design displacer transmitters with torque tube.
The E4 Modulevel® model is a modernized version of the E3 Modulevel® displacer from Magnetrol.
The operating principle of the displacer level transmitter is based on the buoyancy phenomenon of a selected rod called a displacer, immersed in the measured liquid. The buoyancy force depends on the level and is converted into an electrical output signal corresponding to the measurement range. E4 Modulevel® transmitters use a linear displacement sensor LVDT, which moves with the change of level, causing a change in magnetic induction. This is then recorded and converted into an output signal. The advantages of this solution comparing to the solution based on the torque tube are described in this article.
A major advantage of liquid level measurement using the buoyancy method is the accurate measurement of the level or interface level in applications where foam, very high pressure and temperature or turbulence of the medium occur.
E4 Modulevel® transmitters comply with the IEC 61508 standard and can be used in SIS automation systems with a SIL 2 / SIL 3 protection level.
